Being Honest with Myself 4

Hellllo! I have been MIA for a few weeks and I’m back. I took a mini-break and went on vacation to Puerto Rico for a few days, celebrated my 37th birthday last week AHHHHH (mama is getting old) and worked on a project at work that nearly killed me. Last week I was getting to work around 9AM and leaving between 10PM-12AM, needless to say the past few weeks have been crazy, busy, insane but I survived and I’m ready to get back into my regular groove.

Over the weekend, while on Instagram (because I live for Instagram) skinnyms posted the quote below which was so timely for me.

This quote really stuck with me as I haven’t been seeing the results that I would like with my weight loss and I know it’s due to certain changes that I need to make with my eating that I know I need to make but I have been in avoiding it like the plague. .

My biggest downfall and I often jokingly talk about my addiction with this is peanut butter. Overall my eating is pretty good, I eat healthy, I avoid certain fatty foods, etc. However, I eat A LOT of peanut butter. I mean straight out of the jar with a spoon. I have two jars of peanut butter at work in my office and I buy the large jar at home.

On average two tablespoons of peanut butter depending on the brand can have about 200 calories. By eating it out of the jar and not measuring I am pretty sure that I have easily eaten about 600+ calories, which can definitely creep up weight wise or stall weight loss which I am definitely experiencing right now. I am stuck in a plateau and I truly believe with all my heart that it’s due to how much peanut butter I eat.

Being honest with yourself when trying to achieve any goal, weight loss related or not is important in being able to move forward. It’s the only way you can come up with a plan to help you get to where you want to go.

I have decided to make a few changes. For one, I just purchased PB2 powdered peanut butter, which I had never used before but I have heard good things about it.

It’s only 45 calories per tablespoon and it adds the same flavor to smoothies, etc. that regular peanut butter would. I also use it in my oatmeal and yogurt depending on the flavor. Buy using PB2 I have cut so many calories from my smoothies and other food items that I would normally use peanut butter for.

One other area that I know that I need to work on is my exercise schedule. Lately, I have only been exercising about 2x a week, which will definitely not help me get to my goal. I am committed to increasing my workouts. (I just cancelled my gym membership again). I have been going to Soul Cycle and working out at home. Now that it’s slowly getting nice outside, I can resume enjoying my outdoor workouts!

Are you honest with yourself when it comes to achieving your health and wellness goals? What are some areas you think you need to work on to achieve your goal? What’s your food guilty pleasure?
