Last week I had the opportunity to attend Fitness magazines annual blogger “meet and tweet”, #FitBlogNYC. I applied for this event last year and didn’t get in, so I was beyond excited to go this year. I almost didn’t make it because of work, but thankfully the stars aligned and I was able to attend. “Meet and Tweet” is an event for bloggers where we get to participate in amazing health and wellness workshops led by leading experts. We also get to spend time with some wonderful brands that sponsor the event. Most importantly for me, the one thing that I look forward to the most, is being able to spend time with my besties and fave bloggers.
The event takes place at the Mercedes Club, a really nice and fancy fitness club in Manhattan. The day started with a welcome by Fitness magazines Editor-in-Chief, Betty Wong. Betty welcomed everyone and gave us a sense of what to expect from the day.
Betty then led a conversation with Holly Rilinger a Nike Master Trainer and well-known Flywheel cycling studio instructor. I actually had the amazing opportunity to workout with Holly last year at a Nike NTC event. She is amazing. Her energy is SICK! Holly was pretty inspiring and shared a lot about the importance if being your authentic self. She’s actually one of the people who inspired my post from Monday.
Other speakers included Marci Goolsby, a doctor from the hospital for special surgery. Marci talked about injury prevention, signs of over training and the overall importance of listening to your body. Because of her I am actually meeting with a sports nutritionist to help with some issues that I am having.
We then had a break to visit the sponsor area as well as enjoy a super delicious and healthy lunch. I wanted seconds!
After lunch, we had the absolute pleasure of enjoying a light hearted and fun conversation with Carla Hall amazing chef and Bravo’s Top Chef contestant and current co-host of The Chew. Carla talked about following your passions and the steps she took to get her where she is today.
The day ended with an all-star panel discussion on blogging and social media. Events like this always remind me of how far I’ve come in my health journey and with overall blogging. Being in the same room with like minded people who are all committed to healthy living and inspiring others just makes me want to continue on my journey and help others as much as I can.
The real HIGHLIGHT of the event, was this amazing gift bag we received that was filled with amazing gifts from some wonderful brands including Reebok, Dermologica, Hoka One One sneakers, Eddie Bauer and so many more that I truly can’t list all of them. The bag was so big that I had to drop it off at my job as I couldn’t carry it home on the train.
