About

I have always been slightly obsessed with weight loss and healthy living, hence the creation of this blog.  Losing in the City is a blog that I started to document my journey to weight loss and the challenges that exist when you live in a crazy busy city like New York where every occasion or gathering is centered on food. Let’s have lunch, let’s do dinner, want to meet for breakfast? It doesn’t end. In 2009, I realized that I was my heaviest weight ever and I needed to do something about it. I was uncomfortable with the woman that I had become physically and new that I needed to make a change.
Losing weight is not easy and I hope that through Losing in the City, we can inspire each other to lose weight no matter what city we are from and stay on track with our weight loss goals. More then weight loss, I want this to be a space for everyone to feel free to talk about what ever is on your mind.

A few fun facts about me:
-       I LOVE peanut butter (it’s a slight sickness and probably the biggest reason why I am where I am today with my weight)
-       I have 4 sisters and we’re super close, we talk almost every day
-       I have 6 nieces and nephews whom I adore with all my heart and soul
-       I grew up in a household with 20 people (this could be a blog topic on its own)
-       I come from a huge family
-       I speak Creole and have working knowledge of French
-       I am a serial hobby starter. I have done everything from jewelry making to sewing classes to belly dancing to creative writing to knitting and now blogging!
-       I have an extremely obnoxious laugh (I’ve been told by my family that I laugh like my late great aunt who was a 100 years old and laughed like she was 20)
-       I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was younger and actually studied fashion merchandising in my undergraduate studies for four years
-       I am very much into hair care (a topic we can discuss on this site, as a healthy body leads to healthy hair)
-       My family calls me “Oprah” because people often come to me for advice
-       I am addicted to Will & Grace and Everybody Loves Raymond repeats. I fall asleep watching these two shows every night. I have seen every episode and still laugh every time I watch them.

-       I have been on almost every diet, Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Master Cleanse, Mayo Clinic and Slim Fast
