I got weighed in today and I lost an additional 1.6lbs, yaaay.. this brings my total weight loss for the past two weeks to 3.8lbs. This week, my goal is to lose an additional 2lbs. I’m so excited as this is very encouraging and helps me to stay motivated.
Sundays are the only times I have to run errands. So today I went to the gym after getting weighed in, went grocery shopping (Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers Smart Ones, were on sale at Target for $1.88, I thing I over did it with how many I brought. They are never on sale). I try to eat at least 1 a week for lunch. Frozen meals tend to be high in sodium so I try to keep them at a minimum.
I just came from visiting my parents and two of my aunts live there as well. When you get to my parent’s house the first thing they offer you is food. I decided to open up about my diet and let them know that I am on a diet and I didn’t want to eat the meal that they had cooked today (rice and peas with chicken). Well my lovely aunt, proceeded to laugh and say “I find that when you’re on a diet, you tend to get bigger”)…..um, really, who the heck says something like that.. I mean losing 3.8lbs, is that getting bigger? She’s 72 years old, so I will blame on her bad eyesight. I just had to laugh and move on..
They say when you’re on a diet, it’s important to let the people around you know so that they can be supportive of your efforts, but sometimes it’s hard because I don’t want to here everyone’s comment on how they feel about my dieting. I am doing this for me and not for everyone else…
Here’s my menu for today:
-1 kashi bar
-Morning Star Veggie chick patty on 2 slices whole grain and cheese
Today was my first weekend back in school. I was in school Friday and Saturday from 8:30 – 5:30PM.With my program at school, they provide all of our meals including breakfast and lunch and what seems like at least 5 snack breaks. Since on my diet, I have been concerned about how I was going to manage school because all of our meals consist of elaborate buffet spreads. It’s so easy to overeat when you have a buffet style that includes eggs, breakfast wraps, French toast, pancakes, variety of cereals, muffins and bagels for breakfast. For lunch we tend to have heavy meals like flank steak, mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, salad and a separate area filled with desserts cheesecake, cakes, pastries and more. (They really want to make sure we get our moneys worth)..
Well I am happy to say that this weekend, I was able to manage my diet well with school. My strategy was to preplan for the areas that I know are my weaknesses with food. For example, I love desserts, that’s my weakness area, so I brought dessert from home (Kashi Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie). I also brought my own snacks (Special K crackers). This helped me when I was craving something sweet, which of course happened I had a healthy option. I have to be honest, my other strategy was to just avoid the dessert area completely. I didn’t go near the dessert table.
Additionally, for lunch, I made a conscious effort to pick the healthiest options I could. The good thing is that there are always a wide variety of salads and vegetables.I have to say, after I ate my lunch, which is listed below, I was so tempted to have carrot cake.. I went back and forth with myself (mentally) on why I shouldn’t have it.. it was hard but I’m so glad I didn’t.
Here’s my menu plan for today and yesterday
-1 banana (2pts)
-1 egg (2pts)
-1 turkey sausage link (3pts)
-1 decaf (1pts)
-Special K crackers
-Scallops 6 – (3pts) – very weight watchers friendly, 10 is only 1 pt
-Small Spanish rice (4pts)
-1 Kashi cookie and 1 decaf (3pts)
-Sautéed broccoli with vegetarian meat (my hubby made this meal and it was amazing. (4pts)
-1c brown rice (I normally wouldn’t have rice twice in one day, but made an exception today.) (6pts)
